Our Medical Center: Mills-Peninsula Hospital

MILLS-PENINSULA-1360-1800q40

Dr. Bowers performs her major surgeries now at the new Mills-Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, California.

Opened in May 2011, the interior of the 241-bed facility was designed by Anderson Brulé Architects. In collaboration with its physician membership, Mills-Peninsula worked with doctors and hospital staff to create a calming and welcoming environment for patients and families. Always among the most highly regarded bay Area Hospitals, US News ranked Mills-Peninsula among its 65 best US hospitals: http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/area/ca/mills-peninsula-health-services-6930315.

“This hospital is transforming health care by incorporating designs for healing and sustainability, and making a significant contribution to the community,” said Mills-Peninsula Medical Center CEO Bob Merwin in a statement. Moreover, Mills-Peninsula and its physician staff and employees embrace diversity in all its manifestations. Patients, as a result, feel welcomed and cared for.

The interior design includes materials and colors representing elements of nature. Wood veneer, wood-look vinyl, stone-look laminates, and carpet and fabric with subtle, natural patterns combine to create a healing environment throughout the building. A calming color palette of blues, greens and teals supports this concept, which provides a unifying theme for the facility.
