Note: We've included these articles because they are recent and relavent, but please know that Dr. Bowers and her staff have great support from the residents of Trinidad and the staff of Mt. San Rafael Hospital. The support (letters, email, and calls) from members of the community and allies have been wonderful. Thanks for your support. Just know that the rumors of a culture war in Trinidad have been somewhat overblown, both in this article and in the trans community's reaction to it.

Look for the documentary Switching Sexes: The Aftermath featuring Dr. Bowers (and who else, we are not sure). For people who find that their mind's identity and physical sex are mismatched, sexual reassignment surgery is a viable solution. Follow two transsexual men as they struggle through the heartache and sacrifice of becoming female.

November 2004: A Star is Born
Dr. Bowers has a small role, and acted as a technical consultant, for CSI: Las Vegas's 100th episode, slated to air November 18th. Titled "Ch-ch-changes", it wraps a good bit of positive information around the decidedly negative plot element of a transgendered woman's murder.
