Change Your SSA Gender Marker in TrinidadWe've heard some reports of patients having problems getting their gender marker changed - once they get back home. The SSA policy for gender change is fairly clear, but a lot depends on locale, individual office policies, and even the individual clerk or agent handling the matter. Most of the issues seem to have to do with the Surgical Declaration letter being questioned - wrong format, wrong content, notarized or not, etc. Several Trinidad alumni (Billie, Nancy, and Jessica, thanks!) have suggested that if you are spending a day or two in Trinidad after your surgery, you can visit the Trinidad office of the Social Security Administration to get your official gender change. The folks in Trinidad know how to deal with this stuff; reportedly the agents are happy to see us and happy for us. The local office of the Social Security Administration is located:
