What to Bring

A couple of outfits before and after...otherwise, we supply the hospital gowns, undies, dressings, and dilators. We provide MTF patients with a quality set of tapered and graduated stents for dilation - a critical part of your post-operative care.

For patients undergoing Breast Augmentation (BA), the hospital provides a functional although somewhat unappealing front closure support bra. You may wish to find a more attractive support bra once you return home. Sports bras, although comfortable, do not normally provide proper support to promote ideal positioning after BA.

Some personal care items you may want to bring: a bathrobe, slippers, hair bands, a mirror for your bedside. Trinidad is a desert climate (dry) so consider your favorite lotion, lip balm, and hard candy or throat lozenges, you may get very dry after surgery.

You will want to bring things to pass the time as you recover - books, CD's, tapes, portable DVD player. Laptops are fine, and the hospital now has wireless internet. You will have access to patient telephones (dial 8 for an outside line) and television. Cell phone use is discouraged in the hospital - BioMed rule. (Verizon and Cingular cell phone service will work in Trinidad, Sprint, T-Mobile, and others do not work well.)

Consider arranging to have your suitcase sent home via UPS or Fed Ex to keep from having to carry it post-operatively, especially if you are not traveling light.

To help you get ready for your trip, we've put together a GRS Checklist for you to make sure you've got everything, in PDF Format or RTF Format.
